PROJECT DESCRIPTION • ESCULTURAS SEMILLA is a nomadic project which aims to be a small itinerant school of art and permaculture leaving collective sculptures and small forests in its path.
We create ephemeral sculptures in public gardens, educational spaces, festivals and events providing a beautiful and permanent ornamental garden and an edible forest, creating leisure and rest spaces.
This is a social, cultural and environmental project.
The work has two merged workshops, one of ART and another of PERMACULTURE.
The ART WORKSHOP begins with the preparation of the material (preparation of the “cob” mixture with sand, clay, mud, water and straw), creation of sculptures on a monumental scale and decoration and finishing of it.
The PERMACULTURE WORKSHOP consists of the preparation of the substrate, plant associations and creation of edible and ornamental forests or gardens.
We begin the project by combining different techniques, the structural part of the sculpture is done with a cultivation technique called HUGELKULTUR. This technique is based on using all the organic materials we have, such as logs, branches, reused wood from other years, earth, among others, to generate the base of the sculpture. Which gives stability and creates the ideal conditions for the development of future plants. Thus we generate the ideal substrate for the second phase, the forest and the garden.
We continue with the carving of the sculpture itself, the volumetric part. We use the dough prepared previously (construction method in COB and ADOBE) and applying different bioconstruction techniques (ADOBE, #PLASTERS ON LAND, etc.) to finish with our sculpture and give it the shape we desire.
We decorate the piece among all the participants with organic materials, where each one brings from his imagination his creative offering.
We add the substrate that we have previously prepared on the surface and continue with the permaculture workshop, based on plant associations we will proceed to transplant the different seeds or squad of fruit trees, wild flowers, and ornamental plants.
Finally, we install irrigation throughout our sculpture.
At the end of our intervention we deliver the sculpture to nature to continue its course.
This workshop is a canvas, for sculpture workshops and clay baths. Thus we integrate and connect with the earth.
The first work of this project is called “Unity”. It was done in the Own Spirit Festival 2019 edition, with a wonderful result. A few months later, it is still part of the landscape of our land, beautifying and harmonizing it. "Unity" is a decree sown with the mission of uniting and harmonizing humanity and nature.
We invite you to be part of this experience by joining this workshop, where you will share and enrich yourself with other participants from diverse backgrounds and cultures and at the same time you will contribute to the improvement of the festival space and the improvement of the environment and the planet.
